Mr L. B. O'Brien, Gaoler of the New Plymouth gaol, lias been retired on a pension after 40 years' sorvico. Principal wardor Hawkins is Acting- ! holer, pending the appointment of a successor.
Mr G. W. Br.wne km been ar. pointed to the committee in charge of the arrangements for the acceptance cf Mr Carnegie's offer to provide a library building in New Plymouth, in place of Mr W. F. Brooking, resigned.
