President Roosevelt has directed the Public Printer to print the Presiden- j tial mesiages and other White House ! documents in ace jrdance with the phonetic spelling recommended by the Braader-Matthews committee, which Mr Carnegie is financing. The newspapers resist the innovation, making sarcastic comment, and expressing amazement.
