AUSTRALIAN RACING. Received 2SHI, 1.7 a.m. Sydney, August 27. Jim Dorset, Solution, and Mazarine are equal favourites for the Epsom at 100 to 8, while Solution is nominal favourite for. the Metropolian at 100 to S, Maniapoto too to 7. TURF TOPICS. (By "Moturoa.") A well-known local pcnciller was fortunate enough to select the winning double (Phactontis-Cuiragno) and as he "got in early'' secured a good return for a small outlay. The Rangitikei Racing Club has refused to agree with the Stratford Club racing i:n New Year's Day, says "Advance." It will be remembered that the Opunako Club agreed to exchange dates with the Stratford Club Sir George Clifford, Chairmlin of the Conference, wil therefore approve ot the old dates, provided other clubs do not object. It is reported that Mr D. Thompson has sold Black Reynard to Mr |. Clark, of Gisborne, the owner of Faro. From the secretary 1 have to acknowledge receipt of the Avondale lotkey Club's In ok programme for the season icjoO 7. Maniapoto is still moving in a snmewhatscratchy fashion, states the Sydney "Ref'ree," but looks fairly well. So far, there is nothing to indicate his particular mission in the i spring .but it might be as well to remind those who are commencing or finishing double* with him for the Melbourne events, that his cng'age-
ments also include the New Zealand Cup, which is run early in November. Possibly the programme may be to run him at the A.J.C. Spring Meeting, and then ship him to New Zealand for the Cliristchurth Meeting. His stable companions, Marvel Loch and Noicen, are both doing well, and the latter is nothing near as meanlooking as in the Autumn. I think .she will well repay following during thenext feu months, and between now and Christmas the supporters of T. F. Scully's stable should have a good time financially.
