THE DUTY ON POTATOES.
MB PBBSS ASSOCIATION, Wmmraww, August 27. Theadnsableness of removing the Customs duty of 20 per cent., ad valorem, from potatoes, was brought uader the notice of the Minister for Labor to-day. Mr Millar said he recognised the hardship of the duty, but once the question of tariff revisian was before the House, requests would be nude for many other items to bo >\ placed on the free list. The question must be deferred until the Government was in a position to submit a oomprjhensive scheme of revision.
