THE EDISON PICTURES.
''Novelty is one of the chief charms of the Edison Pictures now being shown at the Town Hall; but in addition to this feature they possess many other recommendation., which place them in the very first rank of entertainments of this nature," said the Wellington "Post" of June 27th. High expectations had been raised, but it is safe to say that these were in most cases exceeded. Last night was the first occasion upon which these films were exhibited in New Zealand, and an audience of some two thousand people testified to the great interest awakened by the preliminary announcements of the entertainment to be given. Something especialy interesting was seen when t he pictures of Coney Island scene;, were projectd on the screen, liy these it was made evident that Uncle Sam enters into the spirit of his pleasure with the same thorough application that he gives to his business; and it therefore follows that the illustrations given last night of shooting the chute riding' the camel, sliding on the 'razzle-dazzle,' looping the loop, steeplechasing, and so forth, were realistic to the verge of danger, ll may be said, entirely without exaggeration, that no- exhibition of moving pictures to equal these in point of general excellence has ever been seen in Wellington, and that every citizen who goes to sec them may rely upon being satisfied with his experince."
