HENUI ROAD BOARD.

The Board met at Fitzroy on Mon-1 day, Messrs Cutfield (chairman), Scarle and Griffiths being present. ' Three months' leave of absence was granted to Mr Steele, the chairman of the Board ; who is at present away on a visit to Melbourne. Mr Culiiekl was appointed, with Mr Griffiths and the treasurer, to sign cheques during the chairman's absence. Considerable discussion took place on the bad state of some of the Fitzroy footpaths, and the scarcity of gravel for their improvement. It was decided to inspect properties .on which gravel was known to exist, with a view of obtaining supplies. Failing a satisfactory find, application will be made to the New Plymouth Borough Council to crush a supply of stone for streets and paths. The Board decided that, providing Mr T, Parkin puts in a crossing opposite his place, and kerbs a short length on either side, the Board will metal up to it j and that the approach to the fire station bo metalled. Complaint was in«lo that some house properties were not on the roll, the owners paying rates only on the land value, ( Mr Cutfield gave notice to move, at next meeting, that a general rate of Jd in tho £ be itruck on all rateable properly in the district. Accounts amounting to £7 8s 6d were passed for payment.
