PREFERENTIAL AGREEMENT WITH AUSTRALIA.

RATIFIED BY SIR JOSEPH WARD. OPERATIVE AFTER NEXT TUESDAY. Received 21st, 1.10 a.m. MELUOURNE, August 20. Communications which have passed between Si-Joseph Ward ami the Hon. A. Dca'm have resulted m complete agreement with respect to the reciprocal tariff.

The preference arrangement ratifies the conferences held between the late Mr Seddon, Mr Deakin, and Sir W. Lyno.

The agreement will be laid on the table of the Houses of both countries simultaneously on August 2S. The usual resolution will bo at once moved, aud the Preferences will become operative forthwith.
