The morning broke dull, but as the afternoon wore on the wralher cleared, and the sun shone out brightly. Also Carlo, Rowlock, Wi aka, Nogi Haerkimo, DeersI iyer, Elntwood, Sir James, Uncle Ike, A! bury, Stormy Petrel. Hakairoa and E trly Van rose at the last fence almost on terms, the former winuing by i length, Recruit a length and a half away, third. Time, 5 31. Divs., £1 10s lil and £3 ss. Wi Waka, who fell at tilt last fence, broke one of his forelegs and had to be destroyed. Sumner Handicap: Outer 1, Togos 2, Bnce'.euch 3. Also started: Curio, sity, Count Gorton Hemlock and Fair Boy. Won by a length and a half, Man jess a neck behind Medallist. Time, i 22 3-5. Dividends, £l2 8s and £1 lGs lid. Grand National Hurdles: Cuiragno 1, Hydrant 2, Prospector 3. Also Parted : Kremlin, Comfort, Romany King, Wain-era, liaraua, Magnificent and Silvcrleno. G'uiragno at once set out to make the running and was in front all the way. He juxpe I the last hurdle clear of Hydrant, and easily stalling off the latler's challenge, won by two lengths. P.'ospector was a length and a hal a.vay third, followed by Comfort and Kremlin. Also started : liurus, Swimmer, Narcissus, Victory, Manazona. Narcissus and Manazona made the early running, but at the stand double the latter came to grief. Narcissus led along the back and into straight, but there dropped back and Kaitare took charge. In the run 'home Kiaterc beat Phostonitis by a couple of lengths, Playfair n length and a half further back. T,me 3,17, Uirs. £3 13s 61 and il, Islington Handicap: Lyrist 1, Ellerton 2, Waika'o 3, Also started: Jolly Friar, Buluwayo, Heroism. Notus and Tsitsihar. The three placed horses fought out a desperate finish, Lyrist winning by half a head, with Waikato a head behind Ellerton. Time 1.51. Divs., £t 2s and £1 3s. Spreydon flack Hurdles: Aqua Regia 1, Faro 2, ijceside 3, Also ■darted: Tirole, Carlo, Kvenlode, Coxswain, Wee McGregor, Rangitata and Wissembourg. Aqua Itegia, after making all the running, lasted long enough t5 win by a neck, Leeside a poor third. Time, 3.32 1-5. Divs., £ll 3s and 15s Woolston Plate: Sir Pcrcival 1, Ordinance 2, Athena 3. Also started : Lee Enfield and Stars and Stripes. Won comfort ably by a length and a half. Time 123 3-5. Divs ,t2.
