STRATFORD.
(Prom our own correspondent). M the S.M. Court to-dav, Thomas Henry Massii-.ks was charged with four en en of theft, two in Inglewood and two in Stratford. In Inglewood five ladies' coats wore stolen from the mart, and Const, ible Dmldy, of Inglewood, fr un enquiries made, issued a warrant lor Jhe apprehension of Massicks. Massicks was arrested iu Stratford ou Monday night by Constable Hyde, and having previous convictions, he was sentenced three months on eao'i charge, sentences being concurrent. A rumour is current that Constable llyan, who has been in charge of the Stratford Police District for the past nine years, is lo be transferred, and, whether or not Ihe rumor be irue, a petition is being circulated and numerously signed asking that Constable Ryan should remain in S.-ralford. Whilst conceding that live head of the police department understands his duty better than we do, I thoroughly believe thai in removing Constable Ryan, a great mistake would be made. By all classes and creeds of the community Constable Ryan is held in Hie highest esteem, and general regret is expressed that such a change should ever be contemplated.
