SUDDEN FLEET MOBILISATION.
Received 15,12.51 a.m. London, August 14. Orders have been issued at Devonport for the immediate mobilisation of the fleet reserve. It is interpreted to be a lest of preparedness, or a fresh series of manoeuvres.
SHORTAGE OF BUTTER. STATE OF SYDNEY MARKET. Received 14, 10.43 p.m. Sydney, August 14. The wholesale quotations for best butter is thirteen pence, the highest for three years. In addition to the usual shortage at this season of the year, the large demand for the uusalted article for export bared the market, the principal factories being offered premiums in some cases over a farthing over the market price, for the production of this class. To meet the shortage of salted, large importations have been made from Melbourne, but orders are now s:nt to the producing districts, which arc expected to result in easing the market in the near future.
