SOCIAL TO HON. J. A. MILLAR.
FEU I'IIESS ASSOCIATION. DusiiDis, August 14 A complimentary social to the Hon. •1. A. Millar, Minister of Marine and Labour, was tendered by the citizens of Duuedin this evening in the Victoria Hall, a representative audience crowding the building. The Mayor, who presided, presented the guest with an illumiuated address testifying to the value of Ins public services iu the past and wishing him success in his new sphere. Mr Miliar expressed his appreciation of the many congratulatory words which had been bestowed on him by all sections of the commuuity in his new position. He would endeavour to act judicially and in the best interests of all. Regarding the new Ministry, he could only say that the lines of policy would be those of steady progress, of endeavouring to husband the finances of the colony, and of bringing in such legislation as might be to the advantage of the colony. Mr Millar's reception throughout was most hearty.
