It was stated that tho unfortunate viotim of the assault, an old man of 73, is quite unable to attend Court. Ho is still in the Hospital and his condition is serious. Christehurch, August 14. Jas, Goodman, law clerk to Bruges, solicitor, was sentenced to two years' imprisonment. Bruges applied for a new trial and was released, substam tial bail being given.
