NEW PLYMOUTH BOROUGH COUNCIL.
At the ordinary meeting of the Borough Council on Monday night, there were )iresont: —His Worship the Mayor (Mr E. Dockrill) presiding, Cra L. M Mouteath, P. Bellrmger, F. E. Wilson, W. V. Brooking, W. A. Collis, 1). Hutchen, P. Stohr, G. W. Browne, and E. P. Webster.
His Excellency the Governor stated his intention of visiting Now Plymouth on October 10th, to be present at the monster demonstration inaugurated by the Eecreation Snorts Ground Commit-
The Western Park Commitlea wroto that they had about 2000 yards of] spoil, which they would deliver to the Powderham-street gully at 6d per yard Mr Browne, chairman of the committee, Btated that 3000 yards were being I used in grading Morloy-strect, and

The matter of dealing with storm water at the Henui bridge was left with the foreman. The hand-rail on the Outfield road I footpath will be repaired immediately.
The Drainage Committee were asked to keep in mind the matter of laying a now sewer mid-way between Devon
and Gill streets from Gover street eastwards ; and also the urgent necessity for laying the sewer in Devon
street central, from Brougham street to the Post Office, which area is now
seryed by a sewer emptying direct into the river. The Works Committee will make recommendations concerning the payment of extra wages to the men who were engaged during Tuesday night on septic tank repairs. The electric light engineer reported, inter alia, that the arc light at Eliot street had been temporarily replaced by two 32 c.p. incandescent lights, the coils having broken down. New ones were unobtainable in the colony, or from the Brush Company, but wire was being obtained from Sydney to rewind the coils.
It was decided to write to the City Clerk, Wellington, for information as to payment of costs for le<»al work performed by the borough solicitor. Messrs Spenec and Tunbridge will be asked to explain why their horses wero permitted to wander in a borough reserve.
The sanitary engineer was authorised to carry out the repairs to the sidedrivo and septic.tank in accordance with Mr Mestayer's recommendations. The engineer was instructed to endeavour to complete a plan of the rectieulation of the town, aud branch connections to thfl same; and to report on statements made that offensive rubbish was deposited at the depot; and that rubbish was being depssited at Hobson street.
Cr Bellriuger moved for a report on all street works authorised, commenced, and completed since April 1, 1904.
This was amended to read that the report should state only work authorised but not at present completed, and in this form was carried.
Cr Bellringer moved that the officers of the Council report to the first meeting in each month on work in progrees or completed during the month. This was carried.
