While the police wero inquiring, an Afghan named Natella Habibulla tt rived at the watchouse and reporte that his horse had bolted. He was ar. rested on suspicion.

Natella's house disclosed evidences of a shookmg tragedy. There bloodstains all over the building and yard, but no signs of a body. The polico proceeded to Torrens lake, and on dragging secured a sack containing a woman's lower limbs. It is believed that Natella murdered his wito during the night, and had ,cut up and was disposing of the re« mains when the horse bolted The murdered woman was a European named Nellie Manson, and mar. ried Natella a few months since. Deceived 14, 1.8 a.m.

The sack contained the whole of tha body, dismembered and horribly muti. lated.

Though the soone of the crimo is a tluokly populated neighbourhood, no quarrelling or other sound was heard. Natella was apparently on good terms with his wife.
