As already mentioned in our co ilr umns, Mr Griffiths, of tho late iirin c :ii- Bewley and Griffiths, is starting i 'o- business on his own account in thos lie centrally situated offices in the Coffe lie Palace building, at the corner of E» jii moat and Devon Streets. It was r ry tuese rooms that Mr Griffiths stariei ;h m business with Mr Bewley fiyo and a A half years ago. They will, however •d be only temporary premises, for plan: c- are now being prepared for a handsomi •n two-storey building on the site just so or cured by Mr Griffiths admitting tin o- Town Hall. The Coffee Palace offices st already show that Mr Griffiths has 11 taken possession, and tho windows boai u, tho name of the new firm, viz., E. Grit s- llths and Co. Haying spent seven le years m the employ of the New Zeaie land Loan and Mercantile Agoncy Co., ,o in their Blenheim, Palmersloa North d and Wauganui branches, Mr Griffiths .e was Fortunate in acquiring a verv tho- ;. rough mercantile business training. :s Being an energetic and conscientious y worker, lie Has selected in IH'JH to proi, cced toTaran:iki to work up a business li for Hie Irian Co. at ,str;,tfonl, where he y managed the company's affairs until he s joined Air Bewley on the Ist January I'JUI Since that time he has devoted his energies in building up a dairy produce business throughout the colony in conjunction with the well-known firms of Mills and Sparrow, of London, and James Osborne and Co., of Glasgow, which houses will still be represented in New Zealand by Mr Griffiths. Mr Kay will still continue to be Mr Griffiths I right-hand man in the department. . Although the butter and cheese busi- : ncss will receive tho same attention as : in the past, it will not by any means bo the new firm s only care. Tho land business is being specially catered for and will be under the management of
Mr Frank Pagan, who has so successfully filled a similar position for the past two years with Messrs Ben-ley and Grilliths. During that time Mr I'agau has made a name for straight nmt fair dealing, which has drawn praise from many loading citizens. Farmers and others with property for sale may do well to promptly communicare with tho new fh-m. By our advertising columns it will be seen that Mason, Struthers and Co., of Christchureh, have entrusted Messrs K. Grilliths and Co. with the Taranaki agency of their dairy machinery, ineluding the world-famed Alfa-Lival separators. A stock of glassware bowl rings, etc., will bo kept always on hand, as well as separators for immediate delivery. Mr W. A. Cathro, who has an intimate knowledge of this department, will be in charge. These are the leading lines, but the firm will ' also do a general business in produce, ] sharebroking, etc, During the six , years that ho has been amongst us Mr Grilliths has earned the confidence and ' respect of all those with whom he has come in contact.
