PERRY'S BIORAMA.
The Sanation Army Biorama Company arrived ia Nerr Plyinoulli on Saturday night the band playing a stirring march from the station. On Saturday night the company commenced its three night's season to a very good house. An excellent programma was submitted consisting of yooal and instrumental items, illustrated songs, still and animated pictores. The star item was probably the 'Frisco disaster film, which was certainly the best—at least shown to the best advantage—of any yet shown here. The accompaniments by a full orchestra of trained musicians was a treat rarely enjoyed at the local theatre.
On Sunday, service was held in tho Barracks in the morning to a very large audience. In the afternoon tho band paraded in Devon street and marched to Marsden Hill whero a sacred recital was given. There was a huge gathering of appreciative listeners, to whom the playing of the band came as a revelation. Without question the combination is the best of the many excellent ones the Army has had on tour. The cornet playing was marvel, lous, and in a special particular all the more so when it is learned that Bandsman A. Berryman plays both soprano and B-fiat on a B. flat instrument. The company's Glee Party also rendered somo sacred solos during the recital. On the return march the band halted opposite the residence of Mr James Paul and played beautifully, " Nearer, my God, to Thee."
At night, immediately the doers of the Theatre were opened, the seating was simply rushed, and before tho programme commenced thero was not standing spice to be had, hundreds being unable to gain admittance. The service opened with a hymn, after which ono of the Bandsmen engaged in prayer. Several very fine still sacred pictures wero shown, and Master Truinpor, Ihs boy soprano, sang "Orn pro Nobis " to a very fine orchestral accompaniment. The animated film, 3200 feet in length, "Christ among men," depicting scenes throughout the whole life of the Saviour was then shown. The picture, which is the only ono of its kind in the colony, is touchingly realistic, and its effect on the large audience last night was marvellous, the huge concourse of people being held spell-bound. During the progress of the picture, the orchestra rendered sweet sacred music. To-night, the company will submit an entirely new programme, including many of the very latest kinematograph pictures. There is certain to be an overflowing kouse, for the loast that can be said of the company is that if all the picture shows in tho colony were up to the Biorama's standard, it would be long before the kinematograph became a glut in the market.
