| For the sonlliug races the weather was fine and the water smooth. There was- an enormous attendance. The betting was five to four Kemp and two to one Beach. The course wasabout a mile and a half.
From a good starS, Beach first went in pursuit or Green. The latter, howover, maintained his advantage with surprising yigor and was'not displaced till Tonnyson's was roached. Here Kemp, who had steadily improved his-* position, went to tho front, Beach bcinp third. Tho latter got into second position soon after, then Laycock, spurting brilliantly, went up second off the gasworks, and going strongly, had overlapped Kemp at Putney. The wash from a launch interfered with Laycook, but despite this, it took Kemp all ho could do to keep in front to the finish. He evontually won by half-a-lcngth, Beach four lengths off third. Then followed Pcaree, Reynolds, Eush I and Green in that order. Time Bmm ■Msec.
Six crows started in the Ladies' Double Championship, The raco was keenly contested from start to finish' and was won by Mesdames Woodbridge and Hyde, who covered the mile md a half course in 12min 32soc.
