STRATFORD NOTES.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) The annual meeting of the Stratford Dairy Company took place on Monday last, wlion close on 80 shareholders were present. Tlio report and balancesheet were adopted after some discussion. Mrlt. Dingle, the managing director, was voted an honorarium of i'so, an amendment to reduce it to £3O finding little support. It was decided to call a special meeting in the middle of August, to dismiss the advisability of independent milk testing, and whether the company wilt join with the other dairy companies in appointing an oxperl to look after the dairy companies interests in the Old Country.

Mr Pish has sold his farm on the Warwick road, and leaves on Monday for San Francisco, lie intends to take up farming pursuits, in Sieremento Valley, California.

Letters received from Mr J McCluggage (who is at Bathurst, New South Wales) show that he is fast being restored to health, and hopes to return shortly, quite recovered. Sir Joseph Ward passed through Stratford by mail train on Wednesday morning. He was met at the station by His Worship the Mayor, Councillors, and a number of leading citizens. An address was presented to him on behalf of the citizens, welcoming him back to the colony. His Worship then presented the address and Sir Joseph briefly replied. Cheers were given for Sir Joseph, and Lady Ward, The local post office is getting a new coat of paint, and alterations are being made to it. The offico is altogether too small to meet the requirements of this growing district. A farewell social was given at Toko on Tuesday evening to Mr Frank O'Connor (who has been Guard on this lino since it was opened). Mr O'Connor, who was well liked by the travelling public, was presented by the Toko people with a gold chain. The railway servants at Toko and Stratford also made presentations to him. Mr O'Connor has been transferred to Hawera.

A Druids Lodge has been formal here with a good membership.
