Tho Taranaki Oil and Freehold Company advise that there are still LOO shares of the portion allotted to laranaki open for application, the balance having been disposed of. A wire receiyed from Auckland states that 1000 shares have been placed in thai city b in-;o yesterday. No doubt the splendid options acquired by the company have contributed to the success. An allot! ment of shares will be made shortly.
In this issue of the News, there appears an advertisement notifying lands for leasing by the Public Trustee, comprising some 83 different lots in the West Coast Settlement Hcserve district. Some thirty of these arc small homestead allotments, varying in size from two acres to lifty acres, and situated in close proximity to the town of New Plymouth, being parts of the Puketalara, liiiiapilnpihi, ltaiomiti, Pui'akau and other Native Eeserves. As these leases carry a perpetual right of renewal, with full protection for all improvements effected on same by the lessee, they should meet with a fair demand. Tenders close at Wellington on the 22nd August next, and intending applicants can obtain full information as to conditions of lease, and see plans of land on application at' the ollice of the West Coast Settlement Ueseryes Agent, Government Building.', New Plymouth.
