Engaged miking to people and writing on the aspect of the work in this distiict. June 15.—At Kah'jtu. Letter from the Archdeacon telling mc to remain here till he arrived. June ilj.—Writing notices to the people to assemble to-morrow for service. June 17 (Sunday).—At the house of the Rev. 11. YY. Kaipo, held service at 11.40; there were 45 people. Dined there. At 3 p.m. wc had a service with 4'j people. Afterwards we had much conversation, persuading the people to be steadfast, and of one mind. June i!i.—l came to New Plymouth from Rahotu, and saw the Archdeacon. June i.j.—Went to L'reniii with Piri, and, after dinner, went to Onacio, and held a service at 5.;,.., with people. All these people are good at the service. June -to. —At Roperc's house. June 21.—A1l went to gather mussels. June 22.—A very bad clay. At the June 2.1. —We went to Nga-rau-erua, where we had prayers with thice people. The owner of this place and his wile are veiy good at praying; they have prayer hooks.
