A GAS EXPLOSION.

PEIt MESS ASSOCIATION, Nelson, July 28. An escapo of gas in a fountain opposite tke Masonic Hotel caused an explosion. Two corporation employees in the vicinity noticed a smell of {. as, and on struck a matcli, with the result that the pillar of the fountain was blown into the air, shattering the ironwork, also the gas lamps oil the top. Varcoe, ono of tho men, was seriously injured, and romoved to the hospital.

Kenning, the second man, escaped with light bruises.
