Fruit has been very slow of Sale lately, and prices easy. Last week's prices were as follows: Dessert apples 6, to 0/, cookers 6/ to 7/6, banjnas ljd to 2d, lemons 4/6, cauliflowers 3/, cabbages 1/6. Cattle.—At Stratford, on Tuesday, there was a fair yarding of stock anu good attendance. The improvea tone of the previous sale was well maintained, nearly all classes selling at lmpri.ing prices, and the

general opinion was expressed that values were at last on the up grade. Seven-week calves made 5/6, calves to yearlings 10/ to 17/, yearling steers 30/, 18 months ditto 30/b, 2 to 3J ditto ,63 3/, 18 months heifers 32,6, springing heifers £3 5/ ,£4 7/6; store cows 29/ to 30/, farmer ditto £3 15/ to .£3. On Saturday, at Kaponga, I held a clearing sale on account of Mr H I'ower. Early calvers made .£6 to £8 15/, backward ditto £3 5/ to £5 15/, old ditto £1 5/ to 2,£, trap horse £27; hack .£lO, breeding sows '5/ to £5 2/61 store pigs 16/ to 22/0, vring -.bay £l2. On Monday, at Ngaire, Mr Jas. Thompson's clearing sale was well attended, and good prices were realised throughout. Early calvers made £b 10/ to £7 15, late ditto £3 10/ to £s, calves 14/O, weaner pigs 15.0, harness horses £l7 10/ to £4O 17/, hack £4 10/, gig ,£lB, sundries and furniture sold well. On Wednesday, at Rowan, I held a clearing sale on account of Mr C. ]. Wyllie, when everything sold well. Springing cows and early calvers made £$ is/ to £& 12/6, late ditto £3 15; to £5 5/, sundries, etc., made satisfactory rates. The same day at Frankley road, there was a good attendance at the clearing sale in the estate of the late G. Turner, and excellent prices were realised [or both live stock and sundries. Cows made £4 15/ to £& 5/, trap horse £25 10/, gig £l7 10/, spimg dray £l3 10/. On Thursday, at Waitara, I held a clearing sale of Mr T. Hellicr's dairy and farm stock. There was

a good attendance, including several Southern buyers, and considering the age of the cows very satisfactory ™ prices were realised. Frozen Meat.—Since our telegram of the 12th inst., prices for frozen mutton iu general are low-er by par to i-8d per lb. Frozen Lamb: Market steady. fallow.—Tallow in general higher by 3d to 6(1, but the advance asked by owners checks business. LONDON WOOL SALES. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Wellington, have received the following cable from their London office, dated the 20th inst. : "Wool sales closed dull. Go.d merino wools, greasy, prices are on the average s per cent, higher than closing rates of last series. Inferior, faulty, and earthy wools, greasy, prices are lower by 7I to 10 per cem. icoureel interior and faulty wools, 15 to 20 per cent, lower. Fine and medium crossbred greasy wools, lower by 5 per cent. 'Coarse crossbred, prices are on the average at par to 5 per cent, lower than closing rates of last series. Sliped, scoured crossbred wools, lower by 10 to 15 per cent. The total number of bales available, including old stocks, were 118,000. Out of the net quantity available for sale, some 59,000 bales have been sold foi Home consumption, 36,000 bales for tne Continent, 4000 bales for America, leaving 19,000 bales to be carried forward to the next series. Wethers sold to 26/9, ewes to 25/, hoggets to 18/, lambs 19/ to 30/6. Pigs sold freely at late rates.
