MARGARINE IMPORTATIONS.
mi: rauss association. Wellington, July 23. Referring to the importation oi margarine, the Chief Dairy Commissioner, Mr Kinsclla, says that there need be no anxiety that anything will be permitted that is likely to injure the dairy industry of the colony. The commodity, he says, has been imported for years from America, but it is chiefly used by biscuii manufacturers, who find it more suitable for their purposes owing tc its uniformity, -than various brands of cheaper-graded butter. The Agricultural Department is taking every precaution to see that all margarine imported is branded as such, and complies fully with the requirements of the Margarine Act, ISOS. Undei the same Act it is not legal for any person to manufacture margarine in the colony without special permission from (he Minister.
