NEW PLYMOUTH BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The Works Committee met on Thurs. day. Present, His Worship the Mayor, Crs Bellringor, Colin, Monteath and Wilson. The following recommendations were made;— That the inspector bo instructed to tako action against Mr J, F. Hooker for allowing a horse to wander on the Esplanade ; That the application of the Fire Brigade for electric • lighting for the firs stations bo referred to the electrio light oommitteo ; That in connection with the insurance of the baths, the works subcommittee and Cr Hutchen wait on the School Commissioners and place the whole matter before them ; That a return be laid on tho Council table of the amounts paid or payable to Mr Mostayor in connection with the loaa proposals ; That Mr Mestayer's application for balance of his commission be deferred until the work is completed in a satisfactory manner; That Cr Bollringcr's letter asking for information on electrio lighting be referred to the electric engineer to report upon at Monday's meeting.

That the tender of Messrs Billing and Ward of £35 for grubbing portion of the abattoir reserve (including portion of burnt gorse) be accepted.
