FEB PRESS ASSOCIATION. Wellington, July 12. At tile Racing Conference, it was decided that the programme of every race meeting shall contain at least one flit race of not less than one milo on (inch day; that the maximum amount of states in hack races b» increased to £IOO in single stake, and to £250 collectively; that in entering a horse the name of the trainer shall be stated and that ia the official card at race meetings the name of the trainer of eaoh horse shall be printed; that no jockey under twenty-one years of age, ■mless he is m the regular employment of an owner or trainer, or who has not ridden in twenty races in the previous year, shall be entitled to receive a jockey's license j .that a metropolitan committee may refuse to approve the programme of any club using the totalisator, which permits bookmakers to bet on its course j that in the event of five or fewer starters, the property of different owners, the dividend shall be paid on the first horse only; that it be left in the hands of the president to consider the advisability of the conference issuing its om official calendar, a report to be made to next conference.

A motion in favor of jockeys' fees being payable at the scales, moved by Mr G. G. Stead, and supported by Sir George Clifford, was lost by one vote. F. -Earl (Auckland) moved a new rule, providing that a metropolitan committee shall have power to appoint an advisory steward for any meeting in its district, such steward to have power to demand investigation of any matter occurring at a race meeting. The motion was withdrawn.

The Conference decided . that the executive should take stgps to proyide machinery by which suspected cases of malpraotice may be investigated, and dealt with by a permanent tribunal appointed by the conference. Sir George Clifford was re-elected president.

PERMITS AND DATES.

The Permits and Dates Committee recommended that the Otaki Maori Racing Club be granted October 11th and 12th; Wellington Racing Club October 17th to 20fch; that the' applications of the Dannevirke Jockey Club, Ohinemuri Jockey Club, TaratahiCarterton Racing Club, Marton ■Jockey Club, Pahiatua Racing Club, Avondale Jockey Club (new applications) and Forbury Park ttacing Club be not granted. The application of Manawatu Racing Club for a three day's meeting was agreed to. The Ashurst Club's application for two days was refused. The Stratford Racing Club, which applied for January Ist and 2nd, was asked to choose mother date. The Wanganui Jockey Club, which applied for March 7th and Bth, was given March Bth and 9th. The South Canterbury Jockey Club wa« allowed to alter its applicition from April 17th and 18th to April 10th and 11th. In the Auckland district, the applications of tho Avondale and Ohiuemuri Clubs for extra permits were refused. In the flawke's Bay district tho Dannevirke Club's application for an additional permit was refused. In the Otago district, the application of the Forbury Park Racing Club for two permits was struck out. Palmerston South and Waikouaiti both applied for i pormit, and Waikouaiti was granted the permit, Palmerston having had it I last year. In the Wellington district, tho application of the Taratahi-Carter-ton, Wairarapa and Pahiatua Clubs for additional permits were refused. The number of permits granted was 128. They were allocated to the different districts as follows Auckland 18, Canterbury 22, Greymouth 7, Hawke's Bay 20, Otags 26, Taranaki 8, Wanga nui 13, Wellington 14. The recommendations were adopted.
