NEW PLYMOUTH MILITARY BAND.
AXXI'AL SOCIAL. Although the weather conditions obtaining o.i Thursday night were bad as they could well be, the attendance at the annual social of the aboyc institution was well attended. The bridge and euchre tournaments drew many devotees (over 20 tables being utilised) wlule " trippers of the light fantastic " were largely represented. The M.s.C., Messrs E. L. Humphries and W. Way directed proceedings admirably and dancing was kept up till an early hour this morning. The committees had most perfect arrangements and deserve credit for their efforts. The secretary, Mr George, the right man tor the position. Miss Ilurksii.nc kindly placed her commodious te.i rooms at the disposal of the committee for the card tournaments. The supper presided over and provided by the ladies was one of those dainty repasts for which Jfew Plymouth ladies have Hained fame. Result of tournaments : Bridge—Ladies—lst prize, Miss Tidz; 2ud, Miss McKellar; 3rd, Mrs C. T. Mills.
Gentlemen: Ist prize, Mr G. 0. Waddy ; 2nd, Mr J. C. George. Euchre —Ladies—lst prize Miss G. F. Wood ; 2nd, Miss Stoddart Gentlemen •. Ist prize, Mr I!. Andrews; 2nd, Mr R. Culson. During the evening, Mrs Dockrill presented the prizes, which were valuable ones, in a ycry pleasing fashion. Everyone seemed to lunc a till of enjoyment and the band arc .well pleased with the success attained.
