There was a well attended debate held at the Methodist Church last night. The subject was Town v. Country, and Mr Mail took a prominent part. The latter part of the meeting was occupied by singing and games of all descriptions. The directors of the Midhirst Dairv Company held a meeting on Monday, discussing general business, also getting ready for their annual balance. The suppliers are expecting a good fat bonus this year, and as their young stock brought such low prices, it will come in very acceptable. The expert says that they found oi! in alt creeks between here and Toko, but that the bulk of the oil is close to the mountain.

Mr P. Vosper has just returned from a cruise round the Waikato. He is delighted with the country aud states that only three light showers fell during five weeks.
