Adelaide, July 10. The Primate of Australia (the most Rev. \Y. Saumarez-Smith, Archbishop of Sydney), has returned from a visit to Eugland. Interviewed with reference to the Education Bill, he said it was a matter of great rejoicing that there was such a strong desire for religious education in the schools. Secularism was nowhere, but there was a contest between ihe people who wanted general Bible teaching, and those who wanted denominational teaching with a consciecce clause. On the whole he was of opinion that really ?ood results would come from the imended Bill. Becjiyed 10, 9.30 p.m. London, July 10. Clause eight of the Education Bill has passed, Mr Birrell accepting an intendment requiring the local authorityjto accept the rents fixed by Com missioners.
