PALMERSTON NORTH.
PEB PBESS ASSOCIATION. Palmbrston Noeth, July 7. Regarding a paragraph that is being published by many papers stating that there are 200 empty houses in Palmerston, investigations by a "Standard" reporter show the estimate to bo grossly exaggerated. It was ascertained thai the number was below 100, and of these many were old and unfit for habitation. Theceususin April showed 119 " uninhabited " buildings. Tenants are forsaken old ulc! inconvenient premises for newer dwellings, aue there is a steady demmd for convenient workmen's cottages.
