THE DISABLED GLAUCUS.

AN EXCITING TIME. Received 3, 10.51- p.m. , Sydney, July 3. The Kanowna has arrived, and tells an exciting story of the saving of the Glaucus. She fell in with the disabled steamer on Friday night off Cape Liptrap, during a gale and heavy sea. ' The Glaucus asked to be taken in tow, and with much difficulty a line was got 1 aboard. The Glaucus was deeply laden ' with coal,{and soon the strain on the low- ■ line was so heavy that it snapped. By this time it was too dark to render further assistance. Though "the Glaucus was blowing inshore, the captain refused to leave, so the Kanowna stood by till morning, when the Glaucus was found anehoved close inshore. Two more lines were got aboard. The Kanowna was slowly towing the Glaucur; out in the teeth of the increasing trale when both lines parted. A fourth line was made fast, and from Saturday at midnight till Sunday morning, the steamers were practically hove to, wallowing in mountainous seas, the force of the gale adding to the already tremendous strain on the Kanowna. Gradually the vessels drifted to . Wilson's Promontory. Rounding the Promontory the cable I a Jain snapped. The Glaucus set sail i and managed to reach the entrance to s Waterloo Bay, where she anchored. The captain of the Kanowna was convinced that the Glaucus was safe and resumed his voyage to Sydney. During the gale a number of big f seas washed the Kanowna, and a 1 number of tlie crew aiul passengers sustained slight injuries.
