Beuter s Agency has received & sable to the effect that the South African merchants are greatly pleased at the prospects of a direct seryice from New Zealand, aud are' anxiously awaiting news of the projected dep&r* ture of the first steamer in this con nection, Enquiries here show that nothing is yet definitely decided, though it is understood that some shipping companies haye the matter under consideration.
