A SUGGESTION.
TO THE EDtTOB. Sib,—One tiling which I have noticed during my residence in New Zealand is that you are lacking much behind the Old Country in the number pf your holidays. There a fairly large proportion of the people take—or, perhaps, are obliged to take—a holiday each day throughout the year ; yet 1 find that you hare only some eight or nine Statute holidays, unless you add the arrival of a cruiser, or a cricket or football match, or possibly the appearance of a world-renowned soprano. Many tradesmen I have dealt with in this town inform mo that they and their assistants are overworked, and that they look eagerly forward to eaeh recurring Statute holiday, when they might be at rest. I would, therefore, make a grievance known to the Hon. the Minister for Domestic Comfort, and suggest that June 21st bo added to the present number of Statute holidays.—l am, etc., SroiswooD.
