TARANAEI WOOL, SHEEPSKINS HIDE AND TALLOW SALES.

MR. NEWTON KING'S REPORT. On Tuesday, 19th inst, at my Stratford Haymarket premises, I held my second sale of the above produce, and I have to thank clients for the liberal support accorded. Consignments arrived from all parts of the province, including Urenui, New Plymouth, Opunako, Hawera, Vfhangamomona, and all the intermediate country. The chief factor in securing the success of this sale is undoubtedly a catalogue large enough to tempt buyers to attend, and this is possible only when supplies can be drawn from ali directions. Therefore Stratford is, by reason of its central position, admirably situated for the site of the sales.

The catalogue greatly- exceeded expectations and comprised 995 hides, 767 sheepskins, 43 bags and 5 bales of wool, 8 casks of tallow and a quantity of horse hair, cow-tails and bones. I, quote:—

Wool: Fleece BJd to 9Jd, black fleece 7£d to Bd, lambs, 7£d to 9id dead 6fd to 9d, locks 4d to 6d, crutchings 6sd to B§. Sheopskins: Butchers dry 7d to per lb, do. part damp 3s 7d to 6s 9d, do. salted 6s 3d to 6s 9d each, farmers dry 6}d to 9d per lb., do. green and salted 4s 6d to 5s 8d each, pelts 2s 7d to 3s 4d each, skin pieces 3d to sid per lb. Hides: Ox, heayy 40s, medium 2Gs 6d to 31s, cow, heavy 30s, medium 22s to 24s 6d, small 15s 9d to 20s. One line of. 93 cows, medium weight, realised 235, cut and damaged cows lis 6d to 20.«, according to condition. Ycavliuss, Is 6d to Bs, calves 2s to 5s 7d. One lino of 207. yoarlings, and one of 120 calves, particularly good conditioned skins, were purchased by an outside buyer at 6s lod and 5s 5d respectively. Tallow, 2ls 9d to 22s 3d per cwt. in casks, and 20s per cwt. in tins. Horse hair, Is 5d to Is 7d per lb. Dry bones, £1 per ton. Every lot, with the exception of one bundle of wool, sold.

MB NEWTON KING'S BEPORT At the Haymarkel on Saturday there was good enquiry for pigs, stores making 12s Od to 20 i Od, pony and saddle £7 10s. A quantity of trees and plants sold at low rates. At the Mart there was a bvge entry of poultry, and usual rates were realised.. Chickens marie 7d to lOd. hens Is 3d to 2s, orckwls Is 4d to 2s, ducks Is 4d to 3s 61. A large quantity of sundries wis disposed oE at prices m favor of buyers. Fruit: Isl md fruit bus been arriving in bad order, oranges realising 2s 61 to Bsp p r case, bananas 2s to 03, good do. 2d per pound, lemons 4s 6d to as, apples 7s to 83 (id. Cattle: At Waiw.ikiiho, on Tuesday, calves made 8i to lis 6d, forward springing hi i r ers LI 9s fid, springing cows L 3 lOsto L 3 15s, stjre coivs LI to L2 3s.

At Stony River, on Wednesday,calves made 8s to lis, 3 year steers L 3 6s, 18 months empty heifers 25s to 28s, springing heifers L2 10s to L 4 3s, springing cow 3 L 3 to L 4 4s, fat do. L 3 I'ls to LI ss, store cows 25s to 335.

VICKERS' & STEVENS' REPORT Messrs Victors and Stevens report that there was a fair yarding of cattle at their Inglowood yards on Wcdneiday. Bidding had more life in it, anl prices were considerably better, nearly everything changing hands at the following rates: Calves 8s to 15s, 18 months 30s, 2 to 2k year steers L 3 6s 6d, store cows LI to L2 Is, spring calvers L2 to -L3 2s 6d, springers L 3 10s to L 6, culled ewes 5s 1 Id. es
