MINE LABOR ON THE RAND.

A deputation of sixteen Radicals urged Sir H. Campbcll-Bannerman to amend the repatriation proclimition by making it accord with the expressed intentions of the Government. They advocated the cessation of further importations of Chinese to the Rand, and the annulling of the Chinese ordnances upon a definate date."
Sir H. Campbell-Bannerman, in a sympathic reply, admitted that the published translation of the proclamation was a burlesaue on the Government 8 intentions, and promised to re-consider the advisability of stopping the remaining 8000 permits if the security of life and property on the Rand were imperilled. He undertook to facilitate fresh discussion in Parliament.
