TE RANGI PAI CONCERT.

The audience was not a large one that greeted tlie rise of the screen at the Theatre Royal, New Plymouth, on Tuesday evoning, This was doubtless owing m part to the fact that tlio weather was clamp and cold and also to the death of the late Premier, people not seemingly being in the right mood for theatre going. Those patrons who 'lid attend were well rewarded by hearing some beautiful vocal and instrumental items. Each number was well rendered and heartily received, To liangi Pai was in raro voice, as was also Mr W. B. Cadzow. Mr Handley Wells, a songster with a fino base voice (a new member of the company) immediately installed himself a warm lavorite. His rendering of " The Mighty Deep," and his part-singing with Te liangi Pai showed that he possessed a voice of excellent quality. The solos throughout were encored. The duet "In Love's Domain," by Te Rausi Pai and Mr Wells, though difficult, was manipulated in a most pleasing way. Another duct, "Home to Our Mountains, by To Rangi Pai and Mr Cadzow was a gem, the blending of Ihe voices being exquisite. " The Beating of My Own Heat" was perhaps the best- of Te liangi Pai's solos, Mr Cadzow scoring a success with " Nina." The piano solos played by Madame James were meritorious,
