EDUCATION BOARD ELECTION.
TO THE BMTOB. t'lß, —Your leader in this uiorninsfg paper is a well-timed, and highly neeessary cheek on tho actions of the present Tarnnaki Education Board. The failure of the Board to properly advertise the particulars required by tho Education Act, seems to bo a deliberate effort to stifle public interost m the election, to check the infusion of fresh blood into tho nearly lifeless body, to prevent fresh candidates from entering the field of election, and to ensure the return unopposed, with consequent great honour, of certain present members. No doubt, as you Bay, the Board has the interests of education at heart, but did it ever occur to certain nir nbers that the very best service llicy could render to the cause of education would be performed by their being beaten at election by some of the gentlemen thoy seem so anxious to exclude r 1 At present no one seems to know who are coming forward for election to represent this ward. Can nothing be done to induce some strong educationalists to off .r their services r—l am, etc,, Small Hocsekoldeb.
