CHRISTCHURCH LICENSING COMMITTEE.
I'IE PBE9S ASSOCIATION. Chbiotchdbch, June 18. The Christchurch Licensing Committee to day refused all applications for eleven o'clock closing by the Villi tilers' Association. Counsel made a strong appeal, pointing out that dunug the currency of the Exhibition* the town would lie full of visitors from a distance. Ho argued also tliat ten o'clock closing was an incentive to increase the stocks of liquor kept in hoinos. The committee was inexorable Licenses were renewed for several hotels complained of as to structure and conduct on an assurance being given of re-building within twelve months and reformation as to conduct.
