JENKINS MATTHEWS AND PIGOTT'S REPORT. Jenkins, Matthews and Pigott report : —We had a big entry of all kinds of cattle at our Urenui yards on Monday last. Bidding was fairly keen and wo sold most lines either at the hammer or privately. We quote : Full-mouth ewes lis 9d, 18months heifers 2ls to 30s, 2-year steers 32s fid, 21 ditto £3 3s, cows in cilf £3 to £3 7s (id, store cows 24s to 30s, forward cows 50s. Mr Madgwirk's cows were a fair lot, and were eagerly competed for, but being rather backward did not realise such good prices as early ealvers would have done, the top price being £4 2s fid. At our Waitara yards on Tuesday, calves made from 8s to lfis, old cows 20s to 295, springing cows £3 to £4 15s, fat wethers 18s fid.

Messrs Bewlcy and Griffiths report having held tlicir first woo"! m:.I hides sale on Monday last in Mr M. Jones' lino premises, which are cminenlly suited for the purpose. There was a good entry of all classes, and capital prices were realised for all the lots, vendors' reserves being exceeded in every instance. It is now only a question of obtaining the hearty co-opera-tion of the butchers and farmers at this end of the district, by their consigning to us regularly ;;I! their hides, wool, skins and tallow, to establish these sale* on a basis that will give the consignees much higher prices than they have realised hitherto. We have i the assurance of buyers all over the Colony thai they will attend our sales provided the catalogue shows a fair entry. Our next sale will be held >•:! July 23rd, and every four weeks thereafter, enabling buyers to take the Strut ford and Wanganui sales on following days. Entries should be sent in by July 18th as per advertisement, to enable us to place catalogues in buyers' hands befor. tl'e sale. Prices rea'iscd were as follow :
