A SEISMAL PHENOMENON.
Received 16,12.47 a.m. Sydney, June 16. The Soismogr&ph Observatory recorded, on June Ist, * severe earth tremor at 2.50 m the afternoon, but, no record has been received of any shock in other localities. A peculiar feature is that the boom of the instrument, which was displaced by the shock, now. points two millimetres further to eaßt-ward, ai>d indicates that the crust of the earth at tbis spot has assumed a new level.
