Prom every part of the colony telegraph messages uro being received expressing profound grief at the sudden death of the Right Hon. K. J. Seddon. The information to hand is that for somo hours prior to the il-p«r|iirc of the vessel, Mr Seddon was beginning to feol the str.nn of the last two weeks and was not in the best of health. When tho sad news was definitely announced to bo true, the most profound rogrct and surprise was everywhere in evidence. As soon as the Acting-Premier was made aware of the :i.»w >. a meeting of the Cabinet was hastily summoned for two o'clock. Captain Seddon was in the Labour Office when the first cabhgr.t n w,s received. He was summoned to the Hon. Mr Hall-Jones' office, and i..> made aware of what had happened. Only on Saturday night last the editor of the " Evening Post" received the following cablegram from Mr Seddon:—" Gresley Lukin, Evening Post,' Wellington. 9th June. Havo completed reciprocal preferential agreement with the Commonwealth. Firmly believe it will benefit the contrading parties. Tho question was beset with great difficulty. Done my best. Cannot send more at present. Leaving to-night for Auckland. Kia or.'.' Seddon."
