SYMPATHY FROM AUSTRALIA.
PES PBBSS ASSOCIATION. Wellington, June 11. His Excellency Lord Plunkett yesterday received the following cablegrams of condolence from Lord Northcote, Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia " Have heard with deepest regret the sad news of Mr Seddon's death. All Australia mourns the great loss New Zealand has sustained and offers exressions of profound sympathy with the family of deceased statesman.
From Sir Henry Bawson, Governor of New South Wales: ■• Deeply sympathise with the Governmenl and people of New Zealand in the sad death of Mr Seddon. From the Governor of South Aus tralia: " Extremely sorry to hear of the death at sea of your Premier who recently visited Adelaide. j
From the Governor of Queensland : " Sheerest sympathy from myself, my Government and the people of Queensland for the great loss sustained by New Zealand.—Chblmsfobd. From the Governor of Victoria: "On behalf of the Government and myself, I desire to express to your Excellency and to New Zealand our deepest sympathy in the great loss Occasioned by the death of Mr Seddon, who has been so recently among us. Talbot."
From Cardinal Moran: " The Catholics of Sydney convey sincerest sympathy and condolence to the Government and people of New Zealand, in the irreparable loss they have sustained by the death of their great Premier. From the Netherlands Consul, Prahran: " Kindly accept my sincere sympathy with |New Zealand in the sad loss of its great Premier. From Herr Paul Von ltari, Consul General for Germany: "1 beg your Excellency to accept my most heartfelt sympathy with your Colonv on tin occasion of the lamentable death ol your prominent Premier.—Paul Von Bvra."
ASHBTJETON SYMPATHY. PBE PBEBS ASSOCIATION* Ashbubton, June 11. At a meeting of citizens held t. arrange for recognition of the services of a departing townsman, the following resolution was passed: This meeting of Ashburton citizens expresses its deep sorrow at the sudden death of the Prime Minister, and condoles with the people of New Zealand at the great loss its Government has suffered by the decease of ts chief statesman, and also desires to express its deep sympathy with Mrs Seddon and family at their irreparable loss. The meeting then adjourned. The Borough and school committee meetings were also adjourned. . j
