He claims that at pre. sent there is no collective body in Australia able to oontrol inter-national cricket, the Marylebone Club hiring refused to recognise any board not representative of all the interests in* volyed. The present Board of Control, there ore, being impotent I*o far aa international orioket is concerned, and tho players recog. nising that the time was drawing near to make necessary arrangements for the visit of the next English team, gave a promise to play if the team were brought out under the auspices of the Melbourne Club. He contend, that under the circumstances the player* did not act disloyally to the Cricket Alternation, and have justice on their ride in refusing to submit beoause the pistol of suspension was held over their beads. He absolutely denies that the players were paid to give their promise to the Melbourne Club, or promised a trip to England.
