PETROLEUM.
The new company now being fopmed t-o exploit oil-bearing land in Ingledistrict has seoured boring rights over nearly 1100 acres. The prospectus of the Taranaki Oil and Freohold Company is being circulated to-day. The company is being formed for the purpose of acquiring freehold land at Vogeltownupon which to prospect and bore for oil. A large number of shares were applied for prior to the issue of the prospectus. Mr J. 8. S. Jfelley is secretary and local broker for the oompany. and Messrs Harcourt and Co, (Wellington) principal brokers. Prospectus may be had on application to either of the above firms.
Advice has been received that the flotation of the share issue of the Taranaki Petroleum Company, Ltd., set aside for the Auckland district, is assured. The services of Mr Allan Maguire have been as the Wellington director A cable from Hobart states that an English syndicate reports it has purchased 1000 acres of shale country near Laterbe.
