NEWTON KING'S WEEKLY AUCTION REPORT. At the Haymarket on Saturday, only a few pigs came forward, slips making 4s (id to 9s 6d, horses L2 to L2 17s 6d At the mart there was a good entry of poultry, with keen competition. Laying hens made Is 7d to 2s 3d, pullets Is 2d to 3s 6d u cockerels Is 6d to 4s, ducks Is CA to 2s 4d. Owing to a big land sale, no furniture was offered. Cattle : At Waiwakaiho, on Tuesday, calves made 5s to 10s, yearlings 17s, 18 to 20 months steers 32s 6d to 31s, 18 months heifers 2os Gd to 295, store cows 15s to 355, springing heifers LI to Lo 6s.
On Wednesday, at Smart Road, I held a clearing sale on account of Mr T. E, Catchpole. There was a good attendance, and everything sold at fair prices. Newly calved cows made L 4 os to L 6 10s, spring culvers L2 12s Gd to L 3 10s, heifers in calf LI, hack and I harness horses L 3 as to L 5. Furniture and sundries rnado satisfactory prices. On Thursday, at Barrett road, m spite of the heavy rain, Mr W. Barnard's clearing sale was largely attended, and everything sold at excellent prices. Working bullocks made Ll7 to L2l per pair, one off worker L 5 7s Cd, cows in calf L2 las to L 3 12s Gd, calves 10s Cd, trap horse Ll7 10s, unbroken horse? L 5 7s Gd lo L 0 17s Gd, dray LlO, spring trap Ll2 15s, windmill LIS 10s, fowls Is 7d to Is Bd, ducks Is lid, turkeys 3s lid. Furniture and sundries sold well.
Land: On Saturday I held a sale of education reserve leases, when there was a large attendance, and twenty lots were disposed of. Fruit has been in very short supply during the week, iy ith the exception of bananas, which were not iirst-class in quality and in over supply. During the week there has been an improved enquiry for all descriptions of property, and we have disposed of several large properties at satisfactory prices. VICKERS & REPORT. Messrs Vickcrs and Stevens report that there was a good yarding of cattle in their Inglewood yards on Wednesday, bidding for young cattle be. lug slightly better lluiu at late sales.
