SUNDAY TRADING.

P£B PBBSS ABBOCIATION. •Diwedin, Juno 8, A conference was held to-day between the executive of the Council of Churches, and tho members for the City and surrounding districts, concerning Sunday trading, especially with children. Rev. Mr Saunders said that since publicity had been giyen to the matter, it was found that the practico was carried on in many districts. In one case, in the North end of the oity, a dozen children were found seated before a counter with glasses before them, containing non-intoxicating liquor, and smoking cigarettes. It was suggestod by members that a big deputation wait on the Premier as early as possfblo and bring matters under his notice. It was thought one clause in the Bill would meet tho case, or amending the Police Offences Act by striking out the words which make it necessary that a sale should be " in sight of Ihe public." The members promised to do all they could to assist in tho matter of putting down Sunday trading.
