THE STRATFORD FRACAS.
TO THE EDITOB. Sib,—ln publishing the decision of the Metropolitan Committee in rospect of the disqualification and fines imposed by the Stratford fiacing Club, your journal, as well as other newspapers, has made a slight error, in making it appear as if certain words were quoted from the evidence of Mr Bayly, whilst in the docision they do not appear as quotations. The decision, as unanimously arriyed at by the committee (consisting of ten members), and communicated to the press, reads as follows:—Mr Bayly (a Steward) was in a good position to observe all that oocurred, and although naturally likely to be biased adversely to the Messrs Mitchell (if at all), his evidence seoms reliable, He says: "I was standing in front of the woigking-in room, and heard Mitcholl brothers come in. Pardon was ridden up to just in front of the stand—not exactly in front—and James Mitchell remarked 'What sort of a Club is thisP' or words to that effect. 'ls there not a Steward here to take tbo horse ?' To this I replied that I was one of tho Stewards, and would tako the horse. I also said to Mitchell he had no right to mako tho 'remark.' In tho dooision tho quotation ends here, and the following words are those of tho committee : To this Mr Mitcholl made no reply, and doubtless there would have been no further unpleasantness had not Dr. Paget, unfortunatoly (to continucgMr Bayly's words), and then the quotation re-commences with "who was standing in front of the weighingroom, said ' You have no right f ,o make these romarks, Mitchell, You had better go out of the enclosure.' "-—I am, etc, Musseli .Fleetwood, Secretary.
