NEW PLYMOUTH BOROUGH COUNCIL.
WORKS COMMITTE. The Works Committee met last night. Present-, llis Worship the Mayor, Crs. Browne, Bellringer, Collis, Hutchen, Stohr and Wilson. The Committee recommended to the Council:
That Mr Stanley Smith be informed that the Council adhere to their previous decision not to have a registered lease of the Waterworks Reserve.
That the question of appointing n delegate to the Municipal Association be deferred until Monday evening. That the Nelson City Council be informed that the septic tank lias not been working sufficiently long to give a definite reply as to whether it is working satisfactorily or not. Tlut the Borough Engineer be authorised to grant the waterworks caretaker one month's holiday. That the Borough Engineer be instructed to furnish to the Council meeting on Monday a list of the workmen ' at present engaged and their wages; and also||a list showing- who would be retained if the wage list bo reduced to £2O per week. That the letter from the Public Works Department with, reference to the gaol drainage be referred to the drainage committee (the Department is prepared to connect at the corner of Brougham and Fulford streets.) That the question of rearranging and reducing the insurances be referred to the Works Subcommittee with power to act,
