Lyne and ; Mr Seddon, The matters previously discussed with Mr Deakin were gone through and it was decided to cctinue tile conference to-morrow morning. Mr Seddon attended the races at Flemington to-day. He thinks the -.course surpasses anything he ever saw, and the equipment was very complete. The last time he was on the coarse Was forty yean ago, when Volunteer - and Taragon ran a dead-heat for the championship. Mr Seddon and family lunched with the Governor and Lady Talbot. To-night the New Zealanders' woial to Mr Seddon, at the Grand Hotel, which is beautifully decorated, is being held. There are two hundred present, and proceedings are enthusiastic. THE HEBRIDES QUESTION. PRESS EULOGIUMS. Received 5,12.56 p.m. Mblboubne, June 4. The " Argus " and " Age" both publish articles on Mr Seddon's views on the New Hebrides. The " Argus " says his vigorous remarks will find ready response in the hearts of loyal Australians, because they appeal to the patriotic instincts of an Imperial ■ race. Mr Seddon never hesitates to , pat his own views strongly and persistently before the" Colonial Office. "' He had been blamed for assertiveness, but he possibly hit upon the only means of quickening the torpid imagination of British officialdom The "Age" says Mr Seddon' deserves the thanks of the Commonwealth. He went straight to the point and with admirable directness, tore aside the diplomatio veil that hitherto cloaked the movements of the Imperial authorities in their dealings with the Hebrides, and revealed the culprits responsible for the mischief done. Both papers also have articles on the question of reciprocity.
