BARRETT ROAD BOARD.
The Barrett Eoad Board met on Friday, Mr A. George presiding. The chairman was authorised to sign and seal Eossiter's deed, and to sign the plan for the gazetting of part of Game street, from tho Belt road to Cutfield road, to bo oponed as a public thoroughfare. Tho clerk was instructed to writo to the Taranaki County Couucil for a contribution towards the cost of continuing the formation of Devon road to its junction with the South road.
The Treasury forwarded notice that "£SOO, the balance of the £ISOO loan raised for tho extension of Devon road had been romittcd to tho Board's credit.
Tho Health Department instructed tho Board to carry out drainage works in connection with a block of cottagos on tho Belt road, the plans providing for the construction of a septic tank and filter beds.—Tho letter was allowed to lie on the table.
Mr J. C. George, as secretary of tbe Grey Institute, Whitcley township, wrote tbatjthorc was no objection to the construction of a tunnel in connection with the extonsion of Devon road, provided the fencing was not interfered with, and that the Mangatuku stream bed be filled in conformity with the adjoining land. It was decided to take steps to declare gorsc, broom, ox-eye daisy and ragwort to bo noxious weeds in the Barrett road district. An offer was received from Messrs Standish and Kerr, solicitors, on behalf ot Mr Veale, to guarantee the payment of £3OO if the lioard would undertake the metalling of the roads, sub-dividing Vcale's estate. The Board decided that it could not accept the guarantee, but would do tho work if £6OO were plaoed to its credit in the Bank of New Zealand.
