LONDON MARKET REPORT. ' Messrs Bewley and] Griffiths, dairy produce exporters, New Plymouth, are in receipt of the following market report from their London principals, Messrs Mills and Sparrow, dated April 20th, 1906 : Butter: We are pleased to report a much better tone to the market, and the improved demand is pretty general. Danish: Quotations remain the same as last reported, and the butters are clearing on arrival. French: Buyers are showing more interest in this, and many are placing their first ordo.'s for the season. These orders, though small, keep arrivals cleared. Prices may drop at any moment, but to-day there is no change. . Australian ; Choice Victorian, which is in small supply, is wanted, and full market rates are being made. This applies to both unsalted and salted. Seoondary grades, which have been realising such poor rates for so long, are decidedly firmer, and are clearing up closer than they have done for some time past. Compared with anything else on tho market, these butters are exceedingly cheap, and buyers are coming at them more freely.
New Zealand: The Athenic butters are in good order. Some sales ex this ship were made at 98s, but the general price is 100s, though in one or two instances 101s and 102s have been made. Quality on the whole is satisfactory, and market is firm, choice butters being in small supply.
American: With the better demand for Australian, and agents asking higher figures, sonio attention has been given to these, but the quality is not satisfactory, the stock consisting mostly of butters which have been held from last season, and in many cases being
" sidey." Cheese : Colored is scarce and very firm. White though firm, is not sought after QUOTATIONS.
